Although I can be insensitive, I never understood the whole problem of depression until my sister was diagnosed with it. Until then, I never understood why people couldn't function when depressed. NOw I know and understand. I too would not have made a comment. But like Stephen - finding a better venue is always a great idea to educate those who just don't know.
