James Frost, fourth surviving son of Elder Edmund Frost, was born in Cambridge on 9 April 1643 and married first, in Billerica, 17 December 1664, Rebecca, daughter of William Hamlet, who died 20 August 1666, shortly after the birth of her only child. He then married secondly, again at Billerica, 22 January 1666/7, Elizabeth, daughter of Sergeant Thomas Foster of that place, who survived him, dying in 1726. Together with his elder brother Samuel he was accepted as an inhabitant of the town of Billerica on 4 January 1663/4, and he at once took up his residence there becoming a deacon of the church. He received from his father lot 59 in Billerica, being 200 acres of which he sold 100 acres to the town of Billerica on 20 December 1670. In the general division of January 1665/6 he received lot 23 in the great meadow north-west of Prospect Hill near Andover; in that of 19 November 1685 he received 5 acres of meadow land; and in the spring of 1708 he received 47 acres in the Tewksbury district, which he sold to his son Samuel. He lived north-east of Bone Hill between his father-in-law, William Hamlet, and Thomas Ross. There he died on 12 August 1711 leaving issue by his first wife:

I James, b. 14 August 1666, d. 5 January 1754. He m. first, circa 1692, Hannah ---, who d. after October 1712; and secondly, in Billerica, 16 January 1729/30, Mary, widow of Andrew Beard, who d. ---. By the former he had issue: 1 William, 2 Hannah, 3 Rebecca, 4 James (d. young), 5 Ebenezer, 6 James, 7 Elizabeth, 8 John.

By his second wife:

II Thomas, b. 18 October 1667, d. 6 March 1742/3. He m. first, in Billerica, 12 December 1695, Rebecca, dau. of Caleb Farley, who d. 4 March 1704/5; secondly in Woburn, 28 March 1706, Hannah Richardson, who d. 19 May 1708; and thirdly, ante 1709, Deborah ---, who d. ---. He lived in Billerica and had issue by his first wife: 1 James (d. young), 2 Experience, 3 Rebecca, 4 Sarah; by his second wife: 5 Thomas b. 1707; and by his third wife: 6 Joseph b. 1710, 7 Timothy (d. young), 8 Deborah, 9 Elizabeth.

V Elizabeth, b. 6 November 1672, d. after 1714, m. in Billerica 1708 Peter Cornell or Corneal, subsequently of Wilmington, she being his second wife, who d. after 1714, she had issue: 1 Elizabeth, 2 Sarah, 3 Hannah.

VI Edmund, b. 14 May 1675, d. 18 May 1675.

VII Mary, b. 6 May 1676, d. after April 1717; m. 29 July 1707 John Walker of Billerica, who d. 8 March 1753. Issue: 1 Mary, 2 Sarah, 3 Joseph.

VIII Hannah, b. 31 January 1680/1, of whom there is no further record.

IX Joseph, b. 21 March 1682/3, d. 28 December 1737. He m. first in Charlestown, 5 April 1710, Sarah, dau. of John French of Billerica and widow of --- Flint, who d. in 1718; and secondly in Medford 8 December 1718 his niece, Rebecca, dau. of his half brother James Frost, who d. ---. He lived in Tewksbury and had issue by his first wife: 1 Joseph b. 1711/ 2 of Tewksbury, 2 Sarah, 3 Benjamin b. 1715; and by his second wife: 4 Ephraim b. 1720.

X Abigail, b. 3 August 1685, d. 11 January 1772; m. 15 October 1707 Ephraim Kidder, Junior of Tewksbury, who d. 4 September 1776. They had issue: 1 Ephraim, 2 Joseph, 3 Josiah, 4 Sarah, 5 Jeremiah, 6 Abigail.

XI Benjamin, b. 8 March 1687/8, d. 24 March 1753. He m. first, in Billerica, 21 December 1710, Mary, dau. of Thomas Stearns of Billerica, who d. October 1725; and secondly in Billerica 15 February 1725/6 Hannah, dau. of John French of Billerica and widow of Jonathan Richardson, who d. 12 September 1769. By the second wife he had issue an only dau., Mary.
