David Waterman, in 1777, enlisted for nine months in Col. Archibald Crary's regiment (Lieut, 4th Company), Capt. Reuben Ballou's company, Rhode Island troops. Pension Files, S 9514. Dec. for Pension, 5 Sept 1832, Niagara Co, NY at age 72 from Johnston, Prov. Co, RI. He entered service Dec of 1776 at age 16 under Capt. Emer Olney, Lt. Daniel Angel, spent 1 month on alarm. In Jan 1777 spent alternate months service . He served 3 tours with Col. Amos Newell. In June 1777 he enlisted at Warwick with Lt. Jacob Belknap for 9 months. In spring of 1778 he was signed under Capt. Olney and Col.Amos Atwell. He was drafted again and went to Pawtuxet. In Aug. they went to Tolland under Capt. Olney and served 20 days. Early in 1779 he went to Pawtuxet under St. Jeremiah Waterman and served his month and then served as a substitute for a brother, Daniel,who was 15 hears older than he. Waterman and "unto my four children, Esther Congdon and "Polly" (Mary) Brown(Jeremiah's wife) of Lenawee County, and daughter-in-law Caroline Waterman, and Job Waterman. Job Brown petitioned that David Waterman died 26 Mar 1846. |
