Formerly of 1336 Eighth avenue, Juniata, died at the home of his son, Ralph
Rice, in Greenwood yesterday afternoon at 2.35 o'clock after several months
illness. He was a retired yard brakeman for the Pennsylvania railroad, retiring
in 1936 after more than 47 years service. He was born Dec. 2, 1871, at
Belleville, the son of Rev. John and Hannah (Zeigler) Rice. Surviving are his
wife, Daisy (Kelly) Rice, to whom he was married Jan. 22, 1895, in the First
Lutheran church by Rev. Weigle. They celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary, Jan. 22, 1945. Also surviving are two sons, Ralph E. of Greenwood,
and Frank V. of Allentown; three daughters, Mrs. Jennie Ritchey and Mrs. Grace
Bryner of Juniata and Mrs. Thelma Kauffman of Champagne, Ill.; nine
grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one brother, Frank of Stroudsburg, and
the following sisters: Mrs. Lillie Gump, of Bedford, Mrs. Bertha Andre of
Stroudsburg, Mrs. Ellen Eveler of Atlantic City, N.J., and Mrs. Nettie O'Donald
of New York city. Mr. Rice was a member of Trinity Lutheran church. Friends
will be received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home after 6 o'clock this evening.

RICE - Funeral services for William Horton Rice of Greenwood. will he held at
the Mauk & Yates funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of his
pastor, Rev. Ralph Birk. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery. Friends are being
received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home after 6 o'clock this evening.
