The upshot to all of this is that we may have saved some money repairing our microwave instead of buying new. The dang thing was only two years old, so we figured it ought to have more life left to it. Plus, repairing it only cost 1/2 the cost of a new one. I told Cheryl this when we were deciding whether to repair it. It was a verbal exchange that, to me, spoke volumes about our personalities.
I’ve been a busy beaver, and a tired one at that, but I’m not complaining. We’ve started a project at home: painting the living room. It turns out that one of Cheryl’s coworkers is a bad influence. Painting has always been something Cheryl wanted to do, but I’ve always been able to sidetrack her. Now, she spends all day with someone at work who has painted her house…
It was the end of a long day. Most of my coworkers had gone home and the office was mostly quiet, except for my phone. My phone was ringing off the hook. It would ring, I would answer, “Hi, this is John”, and whoever it was would hang up. This was happening over and over again, and I was getting more than a little testy. I was trying to get some extra work done and I was there much…
I would say that I love my computer, but that might be a little strong. I love my wife, my child, and my family. I don’t love my computer. I do have a really strong liking for my computer. Why? It’s different, and I like being different at times. People say that Windows is the standard, what most everyone else uses. It is what I have to use all day at work. It is what everyone talks…
Do “we the people” reward politicians with simplest messages? Call me a cynic, but I think “we” do. It seems that if an idea can’t be summed up in a thirty second T.V spot it’ doesn’t have a chance in hell of holding up in the public “debate”. How often have you noticed that embracing the complex side of an issue = loosing the battle of public…
All at once I’m overjoyed for my sister, yet down in the dumps over our own situation at home. So there you have it. I don’t know what to think about it either. Run and hide before the dark cloud of my mood spreads.
Thank you.
For Conner’s good health, for the friends we’ve made, for a wife who knows how to fix bad situations, and for a perceived ability to soothe her…
Sure things break, but do they have to break all at once? Here’s this week’s tally: Cheryl’s car (twice), our DVD player, the microwave oven, and my patience. Oh, I forgot to mention the rotting trim on the front porch. Cheryl’s car is not a surprise. I’ve regretted that purchase for 5 years now. The other things are relatively new, so they shouldn’t have…
Things with Beth have not been easy lately. Beth has been spending time with the school administration all too often, and I’m beginning to get a little worried. I’m not sure what we’re supposed to do about it, but I’m hoping that some of the folks that we’ve arranged to speak to in the near future will have some good advice.
You hope that you are doing a good job…
