This afternoon I was having a pleasant conversation about the movies, when I became helplessly mute over the name of a famous actor. I was fishing futilely for anything resembling a name, tossing out hints with reckless abandon.
“You know, Superman’s father… the fat guy…”
Apparently the actor in question is known for more than being fat, and such characterizations can…
All my life I could count on the rocks of Honeymoon Island. I don’t know the complete history of Honeymoon Island, but I seem to recall a story about a developer who thought it would be a good idea to stabilize the island by dumping tons of rocks on the shoreline. In any case, the rocks were the sole sore subject of the island since I came to Florida as a young lad during the summer of…
A collective sigh could be heard from as far as the Paines’ Prairie State Preserve late last week as word spread that Billy Donovan was not interested in the Kentucky job – and would be staying at Florida (for now).
Going back to my days as a UF freshman, and lonely season ticket holder under the Don Devoe regime, I’ve had a destinct inferiority complex over my allegiance to the…
Yes, the game would have turned out differently if OSU would have hit more outside shots… but the UF defense MAY have had something to do with it (my prior fears notwithstanding). Maybe this was OSU’s “A” game… and maybe, just maybe, UF brought it’s “A” game too.
OSU did get some open looks outside, with UF playing a lot of zone; but there…
UF 84 OSU 75
(Big sigh) I didn’t think Florida was as good in this tournament as it was last year, but ultimately it doesn’t matter one bit. Florida’s most valuable player was everyone that hit a shot outside the paint. Greg Oden was a man playing with boys; however, other than his fellow freshman point guard, he was the only one that showed up. He put OSU on his back and…
Florida is up on Ohio State by eleven. I kid you not, Greg Oden is a basketball stud. Florida has no inside game with Oden in the game, which will be a problem in the second half if the Florida shooters cool off… and they may if they start to get tired… and Cory Brewer is playing a lot of minutes. So is Oden, but the difference is tired legs don’t affect dunks as much as outside…
On this, the opening day of baseball season (for the Rays anyway), talk of hope, expectation, and payroll makes the rounds. Once again, many are questioning the spending habits of Rays’ ownership – particularly in light of the revenue sharing money ($35 million?) coming in, and the Rays’ payroll ($25-26 million?).
Here’s the thing (that occured to me only just now): when…
