Going for Broke

A step in the right direction.

This weekend “we” made a little more progress on the Pergo front. “We” tackled the dread step project. The details are too dry to discuss here (like that has ever stopped me before), but I will go so far as to say that it was good for a full days worth of fiddling around. Cheryl’s just happy that she won’t have to look at the exposed green Pergo padding on our…

Showing off.

On Thursday I had the opportunity to pick up Beth early. I was leaving work at 2:30, thanks to a long day in court on Wednesday. Customarily, when I pick up Beth early it means that we are going to do something other than just go home. So when we got to the parking lot outside Beth’s school I asked the question, “what do you want to do now Beth?” “I want to go to the park…

Focusing on the positive.

I was angry. I was working on my second case of the morning and things were not going well. But I don’t want to talk about that. Lets just say that it was about as frustrated as I’ve been on the job. Cheryl is still pregnant, Beth still lives here too.

At times Cheryl will tell you, with no small amount of frustration in her voice, that Beth is definitely my daughter. I lie here on Tuesday evening, finishing this entry with Beth at my side. Workplace Story.

There is a guy at my office that has been given the opportunity to have his own office. To this point in his career, he has almost exclusively shared an office with someone. He has confided that he thinks he may prefer sharing an office to working solo. This isn’t just talk. He’s been offered his own office on several occasions and every time he has turned it down. Now, everyone in his…

The Sixth of July.

We did not spend Independence Day doing any of the traditional things. There was no cook out, there was no fireworks. However, on Saturday evening we headed out to Bush Gardens and caught the last night of their holiday fireworks. It was a little late, but still a lot of fun. Beth had reason to be thankful on that night, she got to go to the park with her new friend Cory from down the street. It…

Pergo progress.

Well, we finally put that baby to bed! I can now say that the floor is mostly done. You may think that being mostly done is a dubious accomplishment, but it is significant. We can now reclaim all of our space as living space (as opposed to construction space). Most of the furniture has been recovered from the spare room. The doors have returned to their proper place in the doorways. We can walk…
