How long has the local news been showing off Google Earth in it’s evening segments? In it’s post-game, 11 o’clock show, channel ten was telling a story about something that happened in the Ocala National Forest. (I wasn’t paying close enough attention to learn what happened. I only left the TV on by accident.) Despite being less than one hundred miles away, there are…
I can finally exhale. Gators by one in a nail biter. The Gators played just well enough not to lose.
I suppose UT had something to do with it too.
I can’t remember the last time a national broadcast team made so many mistakes. Not since the Lightning won the Stanley Cup anyway. Getting player’s names wrong and mixing up one player with another (even if their number is CLEARLY visible)…
The morning started off swell… I didn’t get up until 9:30. What else could you ask for? Perhaps 10:30? I digress. Since I woke I’ve been chasing down my son trying to discourage his most recent habit, cat burglary. He has taken to sneaking around the house with one of his miniature fold-up chairs, unfolding it in strategic positions to gain access to various forbidden zones…
I’ve got great news! I just saved a bunch of money on my grocery bill!
I used to be a grocery snob. You know the type, those people who fall for the raz-mataz of a “name brand.” I’d go grocery shopping and look down my long, anglo-germanic nose at “those people” with the store labels in their cart. Well a funny thing happened on my way to insolvency… I…
It wasn’t a sure thing though, after yesterday. The butcher’s bill for the Kauffman Family Household (v.2.2.1) on Tuesday, September 12 is as follows:
Two doctor’s appointments
Nine allergy shots
Two long telephone calls, of the banking kind
A haircut
All of this occurred on a weekday, which is just plain crazy… everyone knows you get a haircut on the weekend. We would…
Four and a half hours ago I was putting my son to bed. It is only with the spit polished lenses of hindsight that I now know it was for the rest of the night – both hours that were left of it. About five minutes before I put him to bed, as he calmed down with his head on my shoulder, his grip slowly loosening on his blanket and his breathing becoming relaxed – I strangely felt like I…
I resisted half a dozen urges to post a political entry today, despite several that left me seething. My straw came in the form of a mailing from “Florida’s Working Families.” It was an attack on the congressional voting record of the Democratic nominee for Governor in Florida, Jim Davis.
As anyone can tell you, misleading attack adds are a dime a dozen during election season.
